Wade Madison ‘Bud’ Barrington

Wade Madison “Bud” Barrington, age 86, passed away on Sunday, September 16, 2012 in Harker Heights, Texas. He was born on April 15, 1926 in Taylor, Texas to Wade and Emma (Vaughn) Barrington.

In 1951, he married the love of his life, Vivian Scales, in Liberty Hill, Texas. Bud was a rancher for the 808 Ranch in Liberty Hill for over 50 years. He was a member of the Texas Hereford Association and Vice President of Capital Area Hereford. Bud was a member of the Liberty Hill United Methodist Church in Liberty Hill, Texas.

Bud is survived by his son, Dusty Barrington of Burnet, Texas; and his extended family: Bob Foust, Coy Foust, Cathy Foust, Jenifer Barrington, Kaylan Hayes, Whittney Lundy and the Cartwright family.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Vivian; his parents; sister, Ruth Foust; brother, Clyde Barrington; and nephew, Tommy Foust.

Memorials may be made to Liberty Hill United Methodist Church, or to the Vivian Barrington Memorial Fund at First Texas Bank.

Serving as pallbearers will be Dusty Barrington, Coy Foust, Bob Foust, Matt Foust, Kenny McLaughlin, and Colby Rhea. Honorary Pallbearers will be Dee Rampy and Washy Andrews.

A graveside service was held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, September 19, 2012 at the Liberty Hill Cemetery, in Liberty Hill, Texas.

Nadine G. Theroux

Nadine G. Theroux, age 87, of Round Rock, and formerly of Liberty Hill, passed away on September 26, 2012.

Nadine was born on May 3, 1925 in Manning, Texas to Charles and Eva (Ballew) Grimes. She married Harry Earl Theroux on March 26, 1944, and they were blessed with 67 wonderful years together until he passed away on March 24, 2011.

Her favorite pastimes were baking and crocheting. She was a member of the Garden Club at the Court in Round Rock, where she lived at the time she passed away.

Those left behind to cherish Nadine’s memory are her children, twin sons, William D. and Anthony D. Theroux and daughter, Janice Foster; seven grandchildren, David Theroux, Billy Theroux, Dorothy Sullivan, Harry Theroux, Kenneth Barnes, Melanie Gibson, and Chris Theroux; 15 great-grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren, William Foster and Kathleen Foster.

Graveside services were held on Sunday, September 30, 2012 at Cook-Walden/Memorial Hill Cemetery in Pflugerville.

William Christopher ‘Wiggy’ Shell

Wiggy Shell

William Christopher “Wiggy” Shell (affectionately known as Dad, Grandpa, Pa) received the blessing of life on December 17, 1925. A native of Georgetown, Texas, he was God’s special gift to Ethel Edwards and Jonas M. Shell Jr., born on the Shell Ranch, now known as The Rivery and Rivery Park. He is a descendant of Isaac Williams and Jonas M. Shell Families, who were among the first settlers in Williamson County in the mid 1800s. He earned the nickname “Wiggy” from his first grade teacher Ms. Annie Pearl.

Early in life, Wiggy was a member of the First Baptist Church of Georgetown, where he was baptized. After graduating from Georgetown High School in 1944, he joined the Navy in that same year. He spent 14 months in combat aboard the USS Makin Island CVE-93 (escort carries), but was initially assigned to VC-84 flight squadron as a tail-gunner, later assigned to Air Ordinance. They were involved in several campaigns including: Philippines campaign invasions of Surigao Strait, Lingayen Gulf, Iwo Jima, Battle of Okinawa and Operation Magic Carpet.

Early on he worked for the City of Georgetown Electric Department. In 1953, Wiggy married the love of his life, Evelyn Labenski, and started their family across the river, at 1402 Williams Drive where they lived their entire lives. During the early 1950s to 1968, he owned and operated the only public swimming pool in Georgetown known as “The Shell Pool” (located between the rivers on the west side of Austin Ave), and later he leased this pool to the City of Georgetown. The Shell Pool was a favorite place where young and old spent many of their summer hours. He operated this pool for the children of Georgetown and surrounding areas.

Wiggy worked for Lone Star Gas for over 10 years, while he and his wife Evelyn co-owned the Dairy Hill (famous local hamburger joint). In 1970, Wiggy purchased Labenski’s ARCO gas station, which he later sold. Then he went to work for Southwestern University, as the Assistant Administrator of Facilities and Maintenance. Later on, Wiggy worked for the Georgetown Medical Center, for 25 plus years, overseeing facilities and maintenance, while he owned and operated S&S Maintenance Company during the same time period. He dedicated his life to serve the City of Georgetown. Serving on the City Council from 1975-1987, he served as councilmember, Mayor Pro-tem, former member of City of Georgetown Recreation board, past Chairman of the City of Georgetown Parks Board and a member of the Chamber of Commerce. He was a member of the Georgetown Fire Department for over 41 years, where he served a volunteer firefighter, Captain and Assistant Fire Chief. He helped shape the fire department to what it is today. Wiggy was a Life member of VFW, Scout Master, member of Georgetown Optimist Club and I.O.O.F #179. In 2001, Wiggy joined Faith Lutheran Church, Georgetown, where he lent his time and talent to many projects. Wiggy loved to spend vacation time with his family and friends traveling throughout Colorado and at his vacation home in Cuchara, Colorado where he loved to fish, hunt, and explore.

On October 20, 2012, Wiggy was called home into the Lord’s arms at the age of 86 years, 10 months, and 3 days. Wiggy Shell is survived by two sons: William Carroll “Wiggie” (Donna) Shell and Clay (Ann) Shell, all of Georgetown; three grandchildren: Darwin (Holly) Shell, Doree Shell Robinson, Grant Deltz; great-grandchildren: Hagen and Callahan Shell, Scout Robinson all of Georgetown; one sister, Marguerite Shell Murray of Georgetown; sister-in-law, Frances Shell of Florence; and many beloved nieces and nephews. Wiggy leaves behind several close friends, especially the B.R. Pope Family, Bill Edmiston Family, Don Davis Family and Durwood Hearn Family.

Preceded in death by his loving wife Evelyn Shell, parents Ethel Edwards and Jonas M. Shell JR., Brother Jonas “Son” Shell and wife Claris Shell, Brother Sidney Shell, Brother-n-law Tom Murray.

Pallbearers are: Darwin Shell, Steve Shell, Charlie Shell, B.R. Pope, Bill Edmiston, Duckie Davis, Bobby Bunte, Lynn Bizzell, Bill Cardwell.

Honorary Pallbearers: Georgetown Fire Department Honor Guard, Georgetown Firefighters (past and present), Dr. Douglas Benold, Dr. Dan Voss, Wayne Shell, Mike Shell, Johnny Shell, Ronald Fox, Logan Pope, Scott Pope, Carroll Johnson, Ernest Lincoln, Les Bunte, Richard Bunte, Bobby Glass, Roger Anderson, Anthony Lincoln, Chip Edmiston, Scott Hearn, Geoff Hearn, Matt Hearn.

A visitation with family and friends was held Wednesday, October 24th from 5-8 p.m. at Ramsey Funeral Home. Funeral services were at 10 a.m., Thursday, October 25th at Faith Lutheran Church with Pastor John Selle and Pastor Walter Pohland officiating. The interment followed the resurrection celebration at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Georgetown, Texas. Family and Friends were invited to the Fellowship Hall, at Faith Lutheran Church immediately following the committal, for refreshments and fellowship.

Neal Dow Chapman IV

Funeral Services for Neal Dow Chapman IV, 29, of Kingsland were held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, 2012, at the Edgar Funeral Home Chapel, Marble Falls, Texas. The family received friends Friday at the funeral home.

Mr. Chapman passed away Wednesday in Mason County.

Neal Dow Chapman IV was born August 24, 1983 in Austin, Texas to Neal  Dow and Christie Carothers Chapman.  Neal graduated from Liberty Hill High School, married Crystal Linder on April 19, 2008, loved road trips, fishing, music, and loved life. He was a loving father, loving husband and son. Neal loved unconditionally and will be kept alive in our hearts.

Neal is preceded in death by Neal Dow Chapman Jr. and H.C. and Betty Carothers, and is survived by his loving wife Crystal, children, Neal Dow Chapman V, Emma Layton, Megan Layton, and Jarod Layton, parents, Neal Dow Chapman III and wife Christie of Liberty Hill, sister Annelle Jane Wilson and husband, Kevin of Converse, brothers Patrick Bruce of Hutto, Charles Bruce and wife Shana of Leander, parents D.L. and Tina Linder of Spicewood, sister in law, Angela and Tommy Burton of Marble Falls, sister in law, Amber and Ricky Rowe of Cottonwood, grandmother, Sue Chapman of Rollingwood, 12 nieces and nephews, and numerous other family members and friends.

Honoring Neal with their service as Honorary Pallbearer are Charles Bruce, Patrick Bruce, Kevin Wilson, Don Sherwood, T.W. Sherwood, Tommy Burton and Ricky Rowe.

Mark Sullins

Mark Sullins, age 49, a lifelong resident of Williamson County, passed away unexpectedly on November 1, 2012.

He was born in Georgetown on September 6, 1963 to parents Leland Sullins and Shirley Ann Perry.  Mark was a honest and caring person who would give the shirt off his back if it would help someone. He never met a stranger and will truly be missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his son, Marcus Sullins of Portland, Oregon; father, Leland Sullins of Sidney, Nebraska; two brothers, Michael Sullins and Lynette Freeman of Georgetown and Mitchell Sullins of Georgetown; sister, Patricia Burtick of Georgetown; niece, Kelly Burtick of Liberty Hill; and numerous aunts, uncles and many friends.

A graveside service was held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 10, 2012, at I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Georgetown.

Guy Anderson Thomas

Guy Anderson Thomas, 67, of Leander, Texas, passed away on November 28, 2012. He was born on October 10, 1945 in Tom Green County, Texas, to Mayo Gordon and Doris Genelle (Moser) Thomas.

Guy grew up in New Braunfels, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mayo and Doris; brother, Butch; and sisters, Gwen and Glenda. Guy is survived by his wife, Sandra (Vaughn) Thomas of Leander; sons, Guy Thomas, Jr. and wife Michelle of Leander; Greg Thomas of San Antonio; grandchildren, Kyle, Tristen, and Gabe; and sister, Glenda Thomas of New Braunfels.

Jesse John Chabolla

Jesse John Chabolla, age 48, of Littleton, Colorado, passed away suddenly on January 28, 2013, in Liberty Hill, Texas. He was born February 22, 1964 in Houston, Texas to Jesse Luna and Gloria (Castillo) Chabolla. Jesse married the love of his life, Michelle Dobson, in Houston, Texas on August 19, 1989. He was blessed with two wonderful sons, Gregory Sean Chabolla, 18 and Michael John Chabolla, 15. Jesse had recently joined Credit Acceptance Corp. as the Market Area Manager in Austin, Texas. He was in the process of relocating his family to Liberty Hill, Texas. Jesse was a wonderful father and husband and dearly loved by his family.

Survivors include his wife Michelle Chabolla and sons, Gregory and Michael Chabolla of Littleton, Colorado; mother Gloria Chabolla of Houston; grandparents, Frank and Rebecca Castillo of Houston; sister, Jessica Vasquez of Houston; brother, James Chabolla of Houston; mother and father in laws, Fred and Patricia Dobson of Liberty Hill, Texas; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service was held on Friday, February 1, 2013, in the Chapel of Ramsey Funeral Home with Pastor Duane Brigman officiating. A reception was held immediately following the service at the funeral home.

Marie ‘Me-Me’ Wiley

Marie Wiley, lovingly known as “Me-me” to all those who loved her, passed away on Sunday, January 27, 2013. A service celebrating Me-me’s life was held Saturday, February 2, 2013, at First Baptist Church of Florence. Interment followed at Florence City Cemetery. Honoring Me-me as pallbearers were Andy Sellars, Danny Sellars, Glenn Patterson, Steven Patterson, Danny Turner, Clay McClellan, Tom Frist and Butch Wiley.

Mary Marie was born in Scottsdale, Arizona, to the late Sam Milton and Iva Robertson Patterson. At a young age her family moved to Florence, Texas. Marie was crowned Ms. Georgetown High School in 1950 and later graduated from Georgetown High School in 1950. She went on to attend and graduated from Durham Business School. Marie met the love of her life, John Robert Wiley; they were married, January 1951 at Ridgetop Baptist Church in Austin. She worked for a few years at National Life Insurance Company, until she became pregnant with their first child. Me-me was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great grandmother, she truly enjoyed her family. She was an exceptional cook and gardener; Marie’s cooking will truly be missed by her family and friends. John and Marie had their family ranch in Florence for many years, she was his best “ranch-hand”, together they cultivated a special place for their family to gather and spend time. John and Marie were longtime active members at First Baptist Church of Florence; she was noted for being in charge of the church Bereavement Committee starting in 1987. Me-me felt that her loving cooking along with the help of others could in some way help the families that were grieving.

Me-me is preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Iva Patterson; her brothers, Milton Patterson and Marvin Patterson; her sister, Mita McDonald; her daughter, Patricia Ann Wiley-Hyman on July 15, 2012; and her loving husband of over 61 years, John Robert Wiley on May 11, 2012.

Me-me leaves behind to cherish her memory and carry on her legacy, her sons, Mark Wiley and his wife Debbie of Liberty Hill and Guy Wiley and his wife JoAnne of Lakeway; her grandchildren, Wendy Wiley Pleak and her husband Luke, Jaclyn Wiley, Jace Wiley and Kiley Hyman; great grandchildren, Dyce Malone Pleak and Hailee Kayden Crow-Wiley; sisters, Madeline Sellars and her husband Milton, Mildred McClellan; and brothers, Barto Patterson and his wife Judy; son-in-law, David Hyman; daughter-in-law, Vicki Wiley Swinford; along with numerous other loving family members and friends.

JB Williams

JB Williams

JB Williams passed away on March 6, 2013, in Georgetown, TX.  JB was born March 18, 1928, to Chester R and Lillian Williams in Briggs, TX.

JB grew up on a small farm on the edge Liberty Hill, TX.  He was one of twelve siblings consisting of six boys and six girls.  JB attended school in Liberty Hill until he enlisted in the US Army.  JB was of veteran of World War II.  After returning home from WWII, he married the love of his life, Grace Inez Simpkins, on March 6, 1948.  They enjoyed 65 years of marriage together.

JB was a member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters where he worked his way up to becoming a superintendent.  When he was not at work, he could be found in his barn building shelves, picture frames, and other items.  He also enjoyed gardening, fishing and hunting.  JB was a longtime member of the Liberty Hill Church of Christ where he served several years as elder.  JB had a deep love for his family.  He enjoyed the holidays with everyone around.

JB was preceded in death by his parents and four of his brothers: Thurman Williams, Orville Williams, Harvey Williams, and Dink Williams.  He is survived by his wife, Grace Williams; son, Jim Williams; daughters and son-in-laws, Sue Williams, Sharon and Cadmus Brown, Teresa and Sid McBeath, and Tammy and Scott Kirk; thirteen grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren; his brother Chester D Williams; his sisters Wilma Brown, Lois Kanetzky, Jean Crumley, Charline Shoener, Christine Williams, and Ida Bonnet and numerous nephews and nieces.  He is also survived by Mary Parker who he often referred to as his “adopted daughter”.

Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from six o’clock until eight o’clock in the evening, on Friday, the 8th  of March 2013, at Cook-Walden Davis Funeral Home, 2900 Williams Drive, Georgetown Texas.

The funeral service will be conducted at ten o’clock in the morning on Saturday, the 9th of March 2013, at Cook-Walden Davis Funeral Home, 2900 Williams Drive, Georgetown, Texas with Brother Jason Dunn officiating.  Interment will follow in the Liberty Hill Cemetery under the direction of Cook-Walden Funeral Home.

NellieHaysNellie Hays, 81, of Liberty Hill, passed away Thursday, March 21, 2013, at a care facility in Pflugerville.

Graveside services were held Sunday, March 24, 2013, at Liberty Hill Cemetery in Liberty Hill, TX, with Pastor Neal Landry officiating. Visitation was held Saturday, March 23, at The Gabriels Funeral Chapel in Georgetown.

Nellie was born October 7, 1931, in Bertram, Texas to the late Flow and Sophie Taylor. She graduated from Bertram High School in 1950. Nellie loved collecting porcelain dolls and roosters. She also enjoyed shopping, especially for clothes, and liked hunting for good deals at garage sales.

Nellie was preceded in death by her parents; husband D.W. Hays; and brothers Buck, Flow, Earl, Bob, and Paul. She is survived by her sons, Dan Hays and wife Geraldine, and Wendell Hays; grandchildren Denise Ehler, Danny Hays, Jr., Patrick Hays, Wendell Hays, Jr., and Keith Ryan; great-grandchildren Brad Ehler, Kim Ehler, Addison Ehler, Grady Ehler, Mason Hays, Brenan Hays, Katie Hays, and Summer Hays; sister Bertie Hohmann; brother-in-law Glen Hays and wife Shirley; and sister-in-law Geniva Simpson and husband Connie.

Lee Austen and Emily Alyse Gonzales

Lee Austen and Emily Alyse Gonzales, of Liberty Hill, TX, were called home into the arms of their Lord on Thursday, March 28, 2013, side by side along with their unborn twin girls, Reese and Kaylee.

They were born in Austin, TX; Lee on September 10, 1987, and Emily on February 2, 1988. Lee and Emily met when they were 16 at Hutto High School and never left each other’s side. They married on April 24, 2010.

Left to cherish their memory are their families; Lee’s parents Johnny and Terrie Gonzales; brother Travis Pace and sister Karah Gonzales; nephew Gabriel Gonzales; and grandparents Val Gonzales, Jonnie Hodgin and husband Lonnie, and Joe and Betty Patterson; Emily’s parents Bob and Kathy Glass; brother Cory Glass, sister Erin Glass Martinez and fiancé Gabe, and brother Travis Glass and wife Sandy; nieces and nephews Kevin Helgren, Ava Grace Glass, Mason Martinez, Maximus Martinez, Marissa Martinez, Emma Hankins, and Wyatt Glass; as well as numerous extended families. Her grandparents Roy and Mildred Turner and Fielding and Yvonne Glass precede them in death.

A visitation was held April 1, 2013 at Beck Funeral Home, Pflugerville, TX. A funeral service was held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at Beck Funeral Home. Interment  followed at Watson Cemetery, Watson, TX.

Melynda Ann Raum-Lattimore

Melynda Ann Raum-9c0808ae-df96-401c-b99e-7aa67b31a0d4Lattimore, age 45 years old, resident of Liberty Hill, Texas, was peacefully called home to our Father on Wednesday, April 24, 2013, surrounded by her loving family and friends.

Melynda was born in Georgetown, Texas to Elizabeth Stidham and Gary Raum. After graduation from Georgetown High School, she entered into the title industry where she went to work at Alamo Title. She was loved and respected for many years. More important than her professional life, was the difference she made and impact she had on all. She was known as by many as “Momma Mel” and never closed her door on any child or animal.

She is survived by her two children, Cody Lane Lattimore and Cayla Jo Lattimore; grandson, Bowen Levlon; husband, Mike Griffin; her mother, Elizabeth Ann Stidham; her father and step-mother, Gary and Bobbie Raum; her sister, Cindy and husband Pancho Flores; her stepchildren, Ryan Griffin and Courtney Griffin; and all of her nieces, nephews, extended family, and countless people that call her “Mamma Mel”. She is also survived by her beloved companion, Tonka Griffin.

The family wishes to express special thanks to Baylor Medical Transplant Hospital in Dallas, Georgetown Hospital ER team, I.C.U. staff and doctors, especially Nurse Dona, who without her compassion and love, we would not have been able to make it through this.

A visitation for family and friends was held April 26, 2013, at Cook-Walden Davis Funeral Home in Georgetown, Texas. Funeral services were Saturday, April 27, 2013, in the chapel of the Cook-Walden Davis Funeral Home. Interment followed at I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Georgetown, Texas.

Dee W. Scott

Scott, DeeDee W. Scott, age 93, a longtime resident of Georgetown, Texas, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 1, 2013.

He was born on July 27, 1919, to his loving parents George and Mary (Risner) Scott in Terrell, Texas. However, Dee was raised by his beloved Aunt Tippa and Uncle Ollie Whitehead in the Strickland Grove area of Georgetown.

Dee married the love of his life, Mavis Montgomery of Liberty Hill, Texas, on September 19, 1940, in Georgetown. He selflessly volunteered to serve our country during World War II in the United States Navy. He loved to work and always had a job, even during the Great Depression. Dee mastered his craft as a brick mason and was co-owner of Lyda and Scott Construction. Dee’s company built and/or repaired many businesses in the Williamson County area. After retirement, he was unable to stay idle for long and founded Scott Birds, Inc. In 2003, Dee closed Scott Birds to provide care for his wife. He was extremely service oriented and very active in the Georgetown Church of Christ. He enjoyed teaching classes and studying God’s word from a very early age.

Dee was a productive citizen and participated in numerous activities for the City of Georgetown. He and Mavis contributed over 1.6 acres of land to begin Georgetown’s Hike & Bike Trails. Dee served as a City Councilman and was the Mayor of Georgetown in the 70’s. He was instrumental in helping bring Lake Georgetown to the area and securing drainage projects for the urban areas of Georgetown. He was also a long time member of Williamson County Sheriff’s Posse and Riding Club.

Dee was preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Mavis Scott; parents, George and Mary Scott; Aunt Tippa and Uncle Ollie; son, Gary Scott; three sisters, one brother, one sister-cousin and four brother-cousins.

To cherish his memory, Dee leaves behind his daughter, Patsy Knudsen and husband Tommy of Georgetown; granddaughter, D’Ann Steenken and husband Chuck of Georgetown; grandsons: Scott Knudsen and wife Tracy of Fredericksburg,  and Chad Knudsen and wife Kathy of Georgetown; great grandsons: Colton Knudsen and Clint Knudsen both of Georgetown; great granddaughter, Hailey Knudsen of Fredericksburg; as well as three sisters and one brother.

A time of visitation was held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 4, 2013 in the Chapel of Ramsey Funeral Home with funeral services following. Dee will be laid to rest next to his wife, Mavis at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Georgetown, Texas.

Burkett, SamSam Burkett, age 84, a long-time resident of Liberty Hill, Texas died on Wednesday, May 15, 2013 in Round Rock, Texas. Samwas born on March 1, 1929 in Lamesa, Texas to parents Jo B. Burkett and Exia (Logan) Wall. Cowboys are born, not made. From the time his boots hit the ground he never stopped and never looked back. Sam was as solid a Texan, as the Enchanted Rock is granite. Sam could write a contract on his word alone.
Sam enlisted into the United States Navy at the age of 17. He felt obligated to serve the country he loved in return for the freedoms he enjoyed with honor and moxie. After being honorable discharged from the Navy, he returned to his roots, as a farmer and a rancher. Sam was able to employ himself in farming and ranching in Liberty Hill, Texas. For leisure, he enjoyed the thrill of hunting and the calm relaxation of fishing. As he grew older, he enjoyed feeding his turkeys and deer on his land. Sam was a Baptist by faith and believed that Jesus Christ was his Lord and Savior. He fought the good fight and his reward is eternal life in Heaven. We are going to miss this man of character, firm resolve and integrity.
Sam was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Larry Burkett.
To cherish is memory, Sam leaves behind his sister, Pearl Shifflett of Big Springs, Texas; son, Andy Burkett and wife Connie of Liberty Hill, Texas; daughter, Jo Alexander of Lott, Texas; daughter, Cindy Wilson of Lampasas, Texas; grandchildren: Todd, Justin, Iris and Holly Burkett, Kristy Shepard, Shila Powers, Jamie Ashford, Elizabeth Easter and Robin Skinner; twelve great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A time of visitation will be held from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Friday, May 17, 2013 at Ramsey Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, May 18, 2013 at Mather Cemetery in Liberty Hill, Texas.
Memorials may be made in Sam’s name to Hospice Compassus at 1717 N. IH-35, Ste. 130, Round Rock, Texas 78644 or to a hospice care provider of your choice.

Donald Tucker

Donald Tucker0001Donald Tucker, 68, of Jarrell, formerly of Liberty Hill, passed away on Wednesday, May 29, 2013 at MD Anderson Hospital.

He was born March 4, 1945, in Andice, Texas to Hugh and Vivian Sarah (Person) Tucker. Donald married Debbie Bobbitt on February 10, 1967. He worked as a Union carpenter for 20+ years until he retired. He later became self-employed working as a carpenter serving the residents of Georgetown and the surrounding areas. Donald was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Jarrell.

Donald was a devoted husband and great papa, dad, brother, uncle and friend who will live in our hearts forever. His four grandchildren meant the world to him. He was by far the best Santa Claus and Easter Bunny in the world.

Preceding him in death are his parents Hugh and Vivian Tucker and a sister Norma Lockhart.

He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Debbie Tucker of Jarrell; sons, James Tucker and partner Greg McGee of Georgetown and Danny Tucker and wife Janice of Jarrell; sister, Lucy Dill of Austin; brothers, Hugh Tucker and wife Mary of Bastrop and Dwight Tucker of Elgin; brothers-in-law, Bill Lockhart of Florence and Tim Bobbitt and wife Jodie of Liberty Hill; sister-in-law, Elaine Chambers and husband Steve of Jarrell; four grandchildren, Daniel Tucker, Sarah Tucker, Nicholas Tucker, and Julie Tucker all of Jarrell; nephews, Garry Dill, Glenn Dill, Gregory Dill, Hugh Tucker, Charlie Tucker, Eric Bobbitt, Matthew Bobbitt, Neil Chambers, Dwight Tucker and Wesley Lockhart; nieces, Wanda Lockhart, Diana Perkins and Tammy Logan; and close family friend, Roy Campa.

Friends attended a visitation with the family on Sunday, June 2, 2013, at Cook-Walden Davis Funeral Home in Georgetown. Funeral services were held on Monday, June 3, 2013, in the chapel of Cook-Walden Davis Funeral Home. Interment followed at Liberty Hill Cemetery in Liberty Hill. Serving as pallbearers were his nephews.

Clifton Baucom

DSCF0019_1Clifton (Cliff) Baucom of Liberty Hill, TX, died June 13, 2013 at the age of 78 years.

Mr. Baucom was born February 7, 1935 in Denver, Colorado. Mr. Baucom graduated from Cheyenne High School in 1953. He was a 30-year Navy veteran, stationed at NAS Miramar, San Diego, CA, serving two tours in Vietnam aboard the USS Constellation.

Mr. Baucom was an avid Ham Radio Operator (W6WBK) spending many hours talking to his buddies all over the country. He reconnected with his high school sweetheart, Sandra Smith, after both their spouses passed away. They married in May 2001 and Dad was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease in September 2001, developing dementia in recent years, as well.

Many thanks to the nurses and doctors that cared for Dad in recent weeks at Estrella Oaks Rehab Center in Georgetown, TX.

Surviving family members include wife Sandra Neeley Baucom (Liberty Hill, TX); daughters Christine Lang (Leander, TX), Sheryl Hausknecht (San Diego, CA) and Cathy VanBoening (Escondido, CA); step-son Tom Neeley (Florence, TX); granddaughter Chelsea Hakker (Greenland, NH); great-granddaughter Riley Hakker (Greenland, NH) and many members of Mr. Baucom’s extended family, in California, Illinois, Indiana and Texas.

Maurice Dilling Hawbaker

Maury HawbakerMaurice Dilling Hawbaker of Liberty Hill, Texas passed away on Sunday June 9, 2013 after a long battle with esophageal cancer.

He is survived by his children Marcia (Elliot) Gross and Martin (Caroline) Hawbaker, grandchildren Josh Gross, Jake (Kristin) Gross, Jessica (Dustin) Shea and Brad Hawbaker, four great-grandchildren, sister Eileen Souder and brother Lyle(Carol) Hawbaker. He was preceded in death by wife Caryl, who died in 1957, and wife Joan, who died in 2006.

Maurice was born in Hagerstown, Indiana to Merlin and Bertha Hawbaker on September 18, 1922. He graduated from Riley High School in South Bend, Indiana and Indiana University. He proudly served in both the U.S. Marine Corps and the U.S. Navy. Maurice worked as a CPA retiring from Lumberman’s Investment in 1982. He enjoyed traveling the country in his motor home and boating. He was active in many community organizations and especially enjoyed times spent with family.

Maurice was a member of the Liberty Hill United Methodist Church.  Cremation was chosen following Maurice’s wishes and a private family service will take place.

Clara Corinne Bass

clara bassClara Corinne Bass, 87 of Georgetown, passed away on Friday, June 14, 2013. Lovingly known by most as Corinne, she will be laid to rest next to her husband on Monday, June 17, 2013 at IOOF Cemetery in Georgetown.

Corinne was born February 4, 1926 in Amarillo, Texas to the late Comer and Dona Doreen Wright Thompson. Raised in the Amarillo area she graduated from Amarillo High School. It was there in high school where she met her future husband, John Howard Bass. John went away to fight in WWII and they were married upon his return on October 18, 1946 in Amarillo, Texas. Corinne saved all the correspondence she and John shared during his time away. Corinne was a supportive wife, as John went to work for Texaco. She enjoyed entertaining in their home and was a devoted mother. Corinne was a wonderful cook and was known for her party foods. She and John enjoyed traveling; their adventures took them all over the world. Corinne and John moved to Georgetown in 1998 from Breckenridge, Texas where they had lived for about 15 years. John preceded Corinne in death in 1999 after 53 years of marriage. She is also preceded in death by her parents, Comer and Dona Thompson and her sister, Gwen Perkins.

Corinne leaves behind to cherish her memory her loving children, Linda Cauffman and husband Richard of Liberty Hill and James Howard Bass and wife Peggy; her grandson, J. Howard Bass and wife Skigh; her first great grandchild is expected to arrive in October.

Cathy Ann ‘Cookie’ Clark

ClarkCathy Ann “Cookie” Clark of Liberty Hill passed away on Saturday, June 22, 2013 at the age of 61.

Cookie was born October 24, 1951 in Austin, Texas to Floyd and Lorene Walker Clark. After graduating from John H. Reagan High School in 1970 she obtained a B.A. from Southwestern University in Georgetown and went on to earn a Master’s of Education from the University of Texas at Austin. She began her teaching career at Leander High School and was a resource and homebound teacher there for six years. She then worked as the sole counselor for Liberty Hill High School for 22 years. As a Certified Professional Counselor, she touched the lives of hundreds of students and families.

Cookie was a devoted daughter, sister and friend. She had a fun-loving outlook on life; was always honest, completely dependable and sure of her faith in God. She enjoyed learning new skills throughout her life and was an erstwhile golfer as well as talented painter and musician. She was proud to be a fifth generation Texan and charter member of the John Berry Chapter, Daughters of the Republic of Texas.

Cookie is preceded in death by her parents. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her sister, Candice “Candy” Allmand and husband Steve; niece, Jodie Davis; great-nieces, Alyssa Davis, Sydni Davis and Lindsey Cittadino; numerous cousins; longtime close friends Penny Kendall; Steve and Donna Klepzig and many other loving friends and family.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 27, 2013 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at The Gabriels Funeral Chapel, 393 North IH 35 in Georgetown Texas. A service celebrating Cookie’s life will be held Friday, June 28, 2013 at 10:00 am at The Gabriels Funeral Chapel, led by Clarence Mounce and Laron Branson. Interment will follow at Bagdad Cemetery in Leander. Honoring Cookie’s memory serving as pallbearers will be Joe Bolin, Andy Burkett, Steve Klepzig, Glenn Rogers, Glen Wall and Dalton West.

Donations in Cookie’s memory may be directed to the American Diabetes Association or to the American Breast Cancer Foundation.

Harley Doyce Rankin

Harley Doyce Rankin, 95, of Wichita Falls, passed away Tuesday, July 16, 2013.

Graveside services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday, July 19, 2013 at Burkburnett Memorial Cemetery with Rev. Don Pellikan, officiating.  Arrangements are under the direction of Owens & Brumley Funeral Home of Burkburnett.

A son of the late John and Bonnie (Powell) Rankin, he was born October 9, 1917, in Mangum, Oklahoma.  On July 28, 1941, he married Beth Taylor in Houston, Texas. They were married 70 years. They resided in Liberty Hill, Texas, for the last 50 years, where he and Beth owned and operated their businesses. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Liberty Hill, the Over the Hill Gang, Liberty Hill Cemetery Association, the Liberty Roping & Riding Club, and many community and civic affairs. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Beth Rankin; and his brother, Jimmy Rankin.

He is survived by his nieces, Linda Burbank of Wichita Falls, Patricia Murphey of Cookietown, Oklahoma, Johnie Lou Oliver of Franklin, and Dorthy Browning of Orange; his nephew, Dean Rankin of Wichita Falls; great-nephew, Ernie Chammas of Keserouan, Lebanon; and a multitude of dear friends.

The family will receive friends from 7- 8 p.m. Thursday, July 18, 2013 at Owens & Brumley Funeral Home of Burkburnett.
